FROM
THE FRONT ROW
It took Hartman's talk (and book) to make me realize the obvious; the root of many of society's problems stem from overpopulation. We must keep this in mind as we attend many of the master plan meetings of our various towns.
Cheryl Weinstein, Facilitator, Ladies Left of Center, New London, NH.
At the end of his lecture, Hartman left the group with food for thought. He asked his audience to think about all of the country's problems--oil prices, pollution, waning infrastructure--and pinpoint one that is made better by more people.
Philip Stake, Staff Reporter, Argus-Champion, New London, NH.
Your predictions on the future growth in our population are alarming to anyone concerned with the well being of our grandchildren and the generations to follow. . . . It is interesting that this subject is not very prominent on the radar screens of government officials and most private citizens . . . You gave us some hard statistics that cannot be denied if we move forward without some change. Thank you again for opening the discussion on this difficult front.
Marvin L. Herrington, Palo Alto Fellowship Forum
Edward C. Hartman spoke at the Democrats of Rossmoor monthly meeting. His talk was entitled "One Billion Americans" and focused on rapid population growth in the United States. Ed Hartman's talk is a "must hear" for all Democrats who care for the future of our children, our country, and our world.
B. A. Javorski, longtime member of the Democratic National Committee.
Thank you, thank you. Your expertise, information, wit,
and style captivated the Environmental Forum class on Tuesday.
Sustainability Day is so important in my mind to enable
students to grasp the big picture. You magnificently contributed
your piece of the puzzle and I think they're getting it.
You were generous, engaging, and authoritative. I thank
you sincerely for myself and for the Environmental Forum
of Marin.
Kiki La Porta, President, Sustainable Marin
The League of Women Voters, Fremont, Newark, Union City deeply appreciate your presentation, "One Billion Americans!" The information you offered showed thorough research of this immensely important issue of rapid population growth in our country. Your knowledge and objectivity about this subject helped open people's eyes and made them realize the seriousness of this issue in the United States and the world. To quote Dr. Diana Hull, ". . . no other subject is more important to the quality of life. Overpopulation is certain to narrow your choices and diminish the well-being of those who come after."
Ursel W. Bloxsom, Co-Vice President-Programs, LWVFNUC
The book is an interesting page-turner, written by a grandfatherly man who has many excellent ideas. I agree with him and would shout "hurrah" if he gave a lecture.
